Music Day Out 2018: Gema Nusantara is Still Alive

 

Shah Alam, 4 May 2018- Music Day Out with a traditional theme which is “Gema Nusantara” is an event organized by final year diploma’s student of Faculty Music UiTM Shah Alam that will be held on 15 May at Laman Mozart, Seksyen 17, Intec, UiTM Shah Alam.

The objectives of the event were to promote the Nusantara music which not people familiar with and to let people recognized Faculty of music.

The highlight of the event was the special appearance of local artist which is Loque from Monoloque Band that will performing with the music student of faculty of Music.

Wan Ahmad Shauqi Sahrulsham, 23, Project Director, said “we want to prove and change the perception of people towards the Faculty of Music students which we are not like what there are thinking.”

“People will know and get knowledge about what is Nusantara music and what kind of genre that it will provide.” he added.

Nusantara music is a genre that should be featured to the public as it was part of Malaysian culture and the society should know the existing of the music and appreciate it and make it known to the world.

“Nowadays, we have influenced with pop, rock and ballad genre and for us, that kind of genre was mainstream. So, we choose Nusantara because we want to remind people that our traditional genre is not dying and still alive.” he said.

“Furthermore, we want to make our people learn to improvise traditional genre with pop, rock etc genre. The specialty, it is our music/genre and only our race can play this music better rather than international artists. Trust me, if we play any kind of our local instrument out there, people will attract and amazed at us.” he added.

There are also vendors selling such as food stalls, pop-up stalls, bundles like clothing and more, and live acts.
