Banting, 11 May 2018 – Tun Dr Mahathir
Mohamad has been sworn as the 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia and new
government were formed with the victory of the opposition alliance Pakatan
Harapan won on the 14th Malaysian General Election (GE) yesterday.
The victory of Pakatan Harapan is a historical
event as it ended Barisan Nasional’s (BN) 61-year reign over the country.
The citizen of Malaysia now is ready to
have changes in their life which they hope for better Malaysia.
Ezaty Fazira Zahari, 23, said “the new
government that were elected by citizen is a prove that citizen have the power
to choose their leader and it was a big change as citizen united to change the
government.”
“The new government is the new hope for
us and I hope that the youth and other citizen will get benefit like the
citizen will have more freedom of speech, the living cost will be better and
the economy of Malaysia will be stable like before.” she added.
Siti Nur Aishah Arshad, 23, said “the
government changing is a good thing as it’s the beginning of whole new chapter
and it will be a good transformation for our country.”
“I’m looking forwards to the new
government to fulfill their manifesto towards citizen as much as they can and I
hope for the future of new generations could be guaranteed with more
opportunities for jobs.” she added.
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now the
oldest head of government in the world at 92 years old as he come out of his
15-year retirement from politics to save Malaysia. He was 4th
Malaysia former Prime Minister from 1981 to 2003 which making him the
longest-serving holder of the office.
